AIRBORNE ANTI-RADAR MISSILE SYSTEM ANTI-RADAR MISSILE SYSTEM (ARMS) is designed to perform the fire damage of air defense system radar station without aircraft entry into the engagement zone of ground-based and sea-based surface-to-air missile system (SAMS) and antiaircraft artillery system (AA system):
•electronic intelligence in the operating bandwidth along the flight route;
•selected radar target (RT) direction finding;
•RT slant range calculation;
•passive radar homing head (PRHH) target designation;
•PRHH target selection by carrier frequency and recurrence interval in a spatial gate as well as selected RT auto-tracking;
•PRHH control signals generation to missile control system before RT engagement.
ARMS operation description
The Gurza anti-radar missile system consists of radio electronic and aircraft systems designed for search and of received information, current radar situation is displayed to the crew and automatic direction finder control commands for direcdestruction of hostile SAMS and AA systems.
“Osina” electronic intelligence system performs active search of hostile radio electronic equipment (REE) and frequency band continuous analysis, in a wide angle sector around the aircraft. In case of detecting hostile REE, radio signals parameters are analyzed, direction of REE is determined, classification and priority selection are effected with data report displayed in the cockpit.
Electronic intelligence system includes: instantaneous frequency finding receiver and super heterodyne receiver (located in a multichannel digital receiver unit), signal processor, signal identification processor, antennae. First channel provides operation in front hemisphere and the second – in rear hemisphere.
By applying multi channel digital receiver, frequency band continuous scanning with 1 GHz frequency bandwidth instantaneous analysis is carried out. At the phase of analysis, the instantaneous frequency bandwidth goes through multichannel analog-to-digital conversion as well as spectral analysis for REE threat and type definition. On the basis tion finding and RT range calculation are generated.
After target selection, data is transmitted to “Olkha” radar direction finder. “Olkha” consists of the phase direction finder based on the wide frequency band antennae system, which provides required accuracy for RT bearing. Aircraft maneuvering provides accurate range measurements and direction finding, anti-radar missile launch zone definition and target designation transmission to missile PRHH.
Pilot performs missile launching after entry into launch zone. RT engagement is confirmed by termination of REE emission registration by “Osina” electronic intelligence system.
ARMS PROVIDES:
1. Kh-58UM anti-radar missile equipped with improved PRGS-58R passive radar homing head or new concept PRHH;
